I started out as a copywriter for card companies, toy companies, book publishers, and comedians, including American Greetings Corporation, Those Characters From Cleveland, Applause, Avanti, Hasbro, Playskool, Price Stern Sloan, Portal Publications, and others. I wrote licensing copy for projects involving a wide range of subjects, including Star Wars, The Honeymooners, The Three Stooges, Andy Capp, Batman, Ziggy, Married With Children, Ren And Stimpy, The Simpsons, Hagar The Horrible, Dennis The Menace, The Twilight Zone, The Lockhorns, Beavis And Butt-Head, Funky Winkerbean, The Jetsons, Archie, Scooby-Doo, Popeye, The Brady Bunch, Hi & Lois, The Flintstones, Marvel Comics, Mad Magazine, Betty Boop, Looney Tunes, The Tonight Show, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and many more.

In addition, I wrote articles for newspapers across the country, among them The Milwaukee Journal, The Buffalo News, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Cincinnati Inquirer, The Providence Journal, The Sacramento Union, and others. My cartoons have been published by Parade, Reader’s Digest, First For Women, and countless other periodicals.

Making the jump into music, I began as a reviewer, then as a producer and liner note writer for the Monstrous Movie Music soundtrack label I co-founded. MMM’s majestic recordings have been used in films, television and radio shows, advertisements, used for charitable purposes, and also enjoyed by film music fans around the world. In addition to shedding new light on little-known composers, I have also helped get this music played in concert settings around the world. I have also written liner notes for other record and CD companies.

My knowledge about classic film music has resulted in my doing commentaries and interviews for DVD projects produced by Universal, Sony/Columbia, The Criterion Collection, Kino Lorber, Shout!, Scream, Imprint, and other companies. I have written extensively about this subject for various magazines, and some of the books I’ve contributed to include The Creature Chronicles, Bride of the Gorilla, The Indestructible Man, Sardonicus, The Atomic Submarine, and Universal Terrors 1951-1955.

I have  edited a number of books, including actress Julie Adams’ The Lucky Southern Star and Emmy Award-winning editor Mitchell Danton’s Cutting It in Hollywood. My most recent project was co-writing actress Francine York’s memoir, A Trail of Stardust. I have won three Rondo Awards, one for music producing, one for writing, and another for DVD commentary, and I have won other awards in both of those fields, but nothing’s cooler than a Rondo! 

I wrote my first children’s middle school novel, A Tail of Two Scotties, and have written four comedy screenplays and a TV pilot.
